UNIPORT Students Protest Over Tuition Hike

Students of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), today (Monday 11th April, 2016), staged a morning protest to express their grievances over increase in school fees. Details of the protest are still sketchy at the moment. However, we can confirm to you that the student are angry over increase in tuition and what they called “management deliberately ignoring” the hardship they are going through.

The protesting students of the University of Port Harcourt also said they are against the school’s new policy of ‘no fee, no examination. VanguardNGR reported that the protesters have, however, stalled movement on the East-west road since 4:30 a.m. when the peaceful protest commenced.

In a similar development, the University of Lagos was also closed over difficulties faced by the “large number of students” living off campus to attend classes as a result of the lingering fuel crisis.
