UNIPORT Students Kicks Against Withdrawal From School

About 270 undergraduates of the University of Port Harcourt have kicked against a directive by authorities of the institution asking them to withdraw or rewrite the post-UTME test.

The students said they could not understand the basis for re-writing the test, at a time they were just about preparing for their first year examination.

The affected students, who have enlisted the services of a Human rights lawyer, Higher King, for legal advice said their destiny was being taken for granted by the management of the University.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Higher King said if the management of UNIPORT failed to respond to the appeal, he would go to court to seek legal redress for the students.

Responding to the agitation of the students, authorities of the University of Port Harcourt explained the circumstances surrounding the affected students.

The Deputy Registrar in charge of Information, Doctor Williams Wodi described those affected as candidates who are seeking admission into the university.

Wodi told reporters that the affected students were asked to withdraw or go through another round of screening, after it was discovered that they were involved in irregularities in the Post-UTME screening.

He said the candidates were properly investigated by a panel, after which the management of the University of Port Harcourt, through the Senate decided to suspend their registration. Source: DailypostNg
