UNILORIN Admits 12,650 of 114,700 Applicants for 2014/15 Session
University of Ilorin, UNILORIN has admitted 12,650 candidates into the University for 2014/2015 session. this number is out of the total of 114,700 applicants who chose the institution. UNILORIN Admits 12,650 out of 114,700 Applicants (2014/15 Session)
The Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, has said the institution admitted only 12,650 out of 114,700 candidates that applied to the university for admission for the current session.
He stated that 41, 470 of the candidates met the minimum requirement of 180 scores in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
He added that 22, 601 of the candidates passed the institution’s Post-UTME.
“The total number of admitted international students were 80 and the total number of admitted students were 12, 650,” he added.
The VC spoke at the institution’s matriculation in Ilorin on Friday.
Ambali also said the institution would expel any of its students found to be engaged in cult activities.
Warning the students against indulging or involvement in cult-related activities, he stated that the varsity had a zero tolerance for cultism.
He also cautioned the students against indecent dressing.
According to him; “Therefore, the first important thing is that you should be grateful, grateful to God who makes everything possible; grateful to your parents and guardians, who have seen you to this stage.
“I know some of you would wonder why you should be grateful to the university since you are qualified and your effort brought you here. The truth is that the university is creating more space for those who are qualified.
“For example, only 8,591 students could be admitted last academic session but we have increased the space so that additional thousands were added above the number we admitted last session. As the saying goes, many are called but few are chosen.
“My dear students, let me tell you that you are fortunate and pray that fortune will continue to come your. Over 114,000 students applied to this university, rated the best in Nigeria, 20th in Africa and one of the best in the world. That you are here today means that you have succeeded where over 100,000 thousand applicants to this university have failed.”
