UNICAL Gives 1st Class Graduate Automatic Employment
University of Calabar, UNICAL has given a 1st class graduate of the department of Histopathology unit of Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) automatic employment due to the students excellent academic result, despite all the odds that was against him. The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Zana Akpagu announced this at the 13TH Induction/Oath taking Ceremony of the Medical Laboratory Science graduands held in the Institution’s International Conference Centre recently.

Mr. Egbe Agala Eja a student of the department of Histopathology unit of Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) who graduated with a CGPA of 4.8 on a 5 point scale, bagged the Provost’s award for the overall best graduating student, as well as, a special award from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
Mr. Egbe thanked God for  grace that saw him through, Parents and sponsors for their support and sacrifice, and their teachers and the university management for ensuring that they got the best quality education possible in a serene and conducive environment.
He enjoined his younger colleagues to imbibe the culture of hardwork and avoid all forms of vices if they hope to succeed while pledging on behalf of other inductees to ensure that they remain good ambassadors of their alma mater.
In the Provost, College of Medical Sciences, University of Calabar closing remarks Prof. Maurice Asuquo also charged the inductees to always exhibit a high sense of professionalism in the discharge of their duties urging them to practice with utmost honesty, diligence and discretion because the lives of human beings are in their hands.
