UNIBEN Swear-In Another Female SUG President
The University of Benin, has announced its swearing of other female SUG President, Miss Lauretta Obakpolo. History seems to have repeated itself six years after. In the year 2010 Miss Chineloma Eleodioma defeated 5 gentlemen by a landslide to the Seat.
Miss Obakpolo who against all odds defeated other male contenders to emerge the second female SUG President in the university’s history has promised to fulfil all her campaign promises.
This formed the crux of her inaugural speech as president after the elected executive members were administered with oath of office under the supervision of Chief Magistrate Nosa Musoe who represented the Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Cromwell Idahosa.
She said: “I’m not unaware of the promises I made during electioneering period, I’m committed to all of them. My administration would also continue with all the well-meaning projects and initiatives embarked by our predecessor”. She climaxed her speech by assuring the students of adequate consultations before engaging in any form of dialogue with the school management.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Osasere Orumwense congratulated the newly sworn-in president for her courageous victory and promised of management’s unalloyed support towards the success of her administration. The Vice Chancellor enjoined the executive members to be partners in progress in order to make the university more globally-competitive.
