SUG Election: Yabatech Management Suspend Errant Students
Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) have suspended seven students of the institution for allegedly being involved with the violent disruption of the student’s union government (SUG) election.
In a memo signed by the Registrar, BiekoÂroma Amapakabo, dated March 10, 2015, it was stated that the seven students were suspended with immediate effect pending the conclusion of investigation by the Students Disciplinary Committee.
The suspended students includes six Higher National DiÂploma (HND II) students –Civil Engineering (1), AcÂcountancy (1), Marketing (1), Electrical Engineering (1), OTM (1), HCM (1) and an ND II student in Mass Communication.
The suspended students are accused of belonging to a cult group which shot and injured a part-time National Diploma (ND II) student on the election day.
The violence has resulted in the suspension of all students’ union acÂtivities in the institution while the inconclusive students’ elecÂtion that triggered the crisis was also cancelled.
