Rhema University Postgraduate Admission Requirements

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Requirements

• Five credit passes in relevant subjects, including English and Mathematics, at O’ Level (not more than two sittings).
• Bachelor’s degree with at least a third class from an accredited university.
• HND in a relevant discipline with at least an upper credit.
• For unclassified HNDs, a minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale, 3.0 on a 4-point scale, or a 60% average.

Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of second-class lower division and a CGPA of 3.0/5.0.
• Alternatively, a postgraduate diploma from a recognized institution.
• Other qualifications as accepted by the Rhema University Senate.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Requirements

• Master’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum performance of 60% or equivalent from a recognized university.
• Alternatively, an M.Phil. degree in a relevant discipline.

Concept Note Requirement: Applicants for Ph.D. and Master’s programs are required to submit a Concept Note with their application:

• For Ph.D.: Two pages
• For Master’s: One page

The Concept Note should include:

• Brief theoretical background
• Statement of the problem
• Study relevance
• Objectives
• Justification
• Methodology

Failure to submit a Concept Note may result in disqualification from the interview stage.

Program Duration

• Postgraduate Diploma: Minimum of two semesters; maximum of four semesters.
• Master’s Degree: Minimum of three semesters; maximum of five semesters.
• Ph.D.: Minimum of six semesters; maximum of eight semesters.

1. Application Form: Obtain the application form from the Postgraduate School at Rhema University or online on the Rhema University website.
2. Submission: Submit completed forms to the Registrar’s Office, Rhema University.

Additional Application Requirements

• Referee Reports: Download three copies of the Referee Report Form from the university website. Two referees should be former instructors, and one should comment on the applicant’s character. Submit completed reports under confidential cover to The Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, Rhema University, PMB 7021, Aba, Abia State.
• Transcripts: Download and complete the Transcript Request Form, sending it to previous institutions to forward transcripts to the same address above. Transcripts must be received by March 4, 2024.
• Supporting Documents: After submitting the form online, print it and submit the following:
  • NYSC certificate (Discharge, Exemption, or Exclusion)
  • Three copies of the completed application summary
  • Relevant academic credentials
  • Six passport photographs
  • Concept Note (for Master’s and Ph.D. applicants)
