PTI Effurun Gets New Vice President
The Federal Government has appointed Mrs. Emily E. Arhagba as Vice President of the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun. In a four paragraph letter ref No. MPS/2031/S.27/1/102, signed by Mr. I.A. Mariga, Director of Human Resources Management Ministry of Petroleum states in part, that the Honourable Minister of State, Petroleum Resources has approved your appointment as the Vice Principal of the Petroleum Training Institute with effect from April 1, 2016.
The appointment is for a term of two years, or until your retirement on October 13, 2017, which ever comes first. Mrs. E.E. Arhagba who was until her appointment the Director of Science (DOS) would function as the Director of Science and Vice Principal in-charge of the PTI pending the appointment of a substantive Principal/Chief Executive.
Also, Mrs. Arhagba’s appointment was sequel to the retirement of the Acting Principal/Chief Executive, Mr. Avuakporeta J. Orukele on the attainment of the mandatory 60 years of age on April 1, 2016. Mrs. Arhagba holds a Master’s Dgree in Communications & Language Arts and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) English Language from the famous University of Ibadan and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria respectively. The new Vice Principal is also a professional member of many bodies which includes Institute of Chartered Mediators & Conciliators, Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), African Council for Communication Education and a Fellow, African Council of Corporate Administrator among others.
Mrs. Arhagba joined the services of the Institute on October 12, 1992, as Lecturer 1, General Studies and she was promoted along hierarchy. Over the years, the new Vice Principal has attained set tasks and targets in academic millstones in the PTI vision and mission. She is a member, Academic Board, Member, Management Board, Member, Departmental Committee on Course Review & Development, Member, Director of Science Board of Examiners as well as Head, English unit of DGS Coordinator of all related matters. Also Chairman, Classroom Allocation and Time Table Committee, Chairman, PTI Housing Allocation Committee and Coordinator, PTI Entrance Examination/Marking Exercise among others.
