President JOonathan Approves Three VCs & Registrars For 3 New Universities

The Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointment of vice chancellors and registrars for the three newly established federal universities in Kebbi, Yobe and Zamfara states.

Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa’i, who disclosed this in Abuja, Tuesday, said the new vice chancellors include Professor Shehu AbdulRahman, Federal University Gashua; Professor Lawal Bilbis; Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, and Professor Ben Okeke, Federal University, Gusau.

She said the President also approved the appointment of Professor Isaac Asuzu to replace Prof. Chinedu Nebo the new Minister of Power, as Vice Chancellor, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti.

Professor Rufa’i said Registrars for the new universities were Alhaji Sule Dauda, Federal University, Gashua; Mr. Ibrahim Mungadi, Federal University, Birnin Kebbi; and Mr. Ibrahim Bawa Kaura, Federal University, Gusau

I personally have a problem with the establishment of New Universities in Nigeria, it is political as far as I’m concerned and has nothing to do with the betterment of Education in Nigeria. Why not invest the money in existing universities and make them stronger? Where are the jobs to give to the graduates of this school when they eventually start producing? I don’t think this is a good step. It’s a personal opinion and you have the right to yours.
