President Jonathan Sacks Education Minister, Others

President Goodluck Jonathan fires Minister of Education and eight others – Nigeria Education Minister, Ruqayyatu Rufai fired together with other 8 Ministers President Goodluck Jonathan this morning fired nine ministers in his cabinet.

The ministers of foreign affairs, education, science and technology, housing and urban development, national planning, and environment have been removed. The ministers of state – the junior minister for each office – for power, agriculture and defense have also been sacked.

“They will be replaced but not immediately,” a spokesman told reporters, without giving further details.

The ministers sacked are: Education minister – Ruqayat Rufai. Minister of Power, State – Zainab Kunchi. Minister of Agriculture, State – Buka Jinani. Minister for National Planning – Shamsudeen Usman. Minister Science and Technology – Ita Okon. Minister at Foreign Affairs – Olugbenga Ashiru. Minister for Lands – Ama Pepple and Minister of Environment – Hadiza – Mailafia.
