Osun Muslim Students Call for Peace
As Osun State government continues to search for peace which was recently threatened as a result of the reforms in the education sector, the leadership of the Muslims Students Society of Nigeria, MSSN, in Osun State has directed all Muslim students in all the public secondary schools in the state to prevent breakdown of law and order by upholding their religious belief in the face of intimidation.
The directive was coming against the backdrop of crisis rocking some secondary schools in the state, especially the Baptist High School, Iwo over the use of hijab by female Muslim students in the school.
Crisis had engulfed the Baptist High School, Iwo since last Monday following the appearance of students of the school in different religious clothes that correlate with their religions.
However, the state President of MSSN, Alhaji Bashir Olasunkanmi, while speaking in Osogbo weekend urged all Muslim students to allow peace to reign in the state and their various schools in particular.
He advised the Muslim students in all public secondary schools in the state not to contravene the law of the land even in the face of provocation in an attempt to exercise their fundamental rights.
