NUC Upgrades Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education to a University
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the upgrade of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education (Kano College of Education) in Kumbotso, Kano state, to a university.
Abubakar Rasheed, NUC’s executive secretary, presented a letter of recognition of the institution to Abdullahi Ganduje, Kano State governor, in Abuja on Tuesday, February 14th 2023.
“Having met the consequence of the requirement upon the receipt of your letter and the former presentation of necessary documents, I write on behalf of NUC that with effect from Tuesday, February 14, 2023, Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education is recognized as the 61st state and 221st university Nigeria,” he said.
”By this recognition letter, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been notified of the establishment of this university.”
The governor said the new institution was established to meet the growing demands for education in the state as well as to produce high-level manpower.
NUC’s executive secretary confirmed that the institution will be the 61st state-owned varsity and the 221st university in the country.
