What Next If Our Application For Admission Fails?

Overcoming failure is all about finding it in yourself to start again. First, you must overcome the sense of failure. The failure of either not gaining admission as an undergraduate or even as a post graduate student or even when applying for Jobs either in the Military or in the cooperate world, you might initially feel so depressed, but if you acknowledge your disappointment and accept your mistakes you will be able to move on.

Candidates, Applicants and even Students hate being told to apply the following year, ever tried sitting at home  without no electricity, or money , and no friend to talk to because they are either in the Tertiary Institution or at their place of work. I trust our Nigerian parents because to them we didn’t sacrifice enough, we  didn’t do this or that, If yoruba Parents they would say “Look at Lagbaja(mentioning your friend or even archi enemy’s name) does he have two heads? Or did he fall from Heaven”.

A friend saw a very interesting course to take for his masters degree, instantly he was overwhelmed with but when he saw the phrase “.. CGPA of 3.50 and above” he lamented because it was a semester that made him finish slightly below 3.50. When we feel we have failed, we may be overcome with disappointment and despair. With failure often comes a tendency to beat yourself up over it, even calling yourself names and even attempt suicide, yes suicide. I was working on a particular project some years back, at the brink of success I messed up big time. I felt like ending it all, so much effort, time and resources wasted, but I learnt to find peace.

After the first shock of disappointment wears off, work on accepting what happened. It will be harder to move forward if you blame yourself or others, or pretend that what happened didn’t matter or didn’t really happen.

Students that wants to gain admission into the university for their bachelor’s Degree should try to learn a skill such as Tailoring, Hair cutting, Hair making, Shoe making, Bag making, Bead making, Photography, go to a computer training school learn web designing, until the window of opportunity to go to school opens up. Remember one of the reasons for going into the tertiary institution still ends with making or earn money in the furure, then why don’t you draw the future closer and maximize the time you have to mould your tomorrow.
