Jonathan Promises To Make Maritime Academy A University
President Goodluck Jonathan during his re-election campaign at the Ibom International Stadium Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Promised to make the Maritime Academy of Nigeria Oron a University of re-elected.
“In PDP, we believe that Nigeria must move forward; if we are talking about change, let us know what kind of change and what direction,” he said.
He promised to cooperate with the next administration in Akwa Ibom State to ensure the state gets its due.
According to him, PDP states has done incredibly well in terms of infrastructures which include new airports, new state universities and sports stadia, as obtained in Akwa Ibom.
He finally urged the people to massively support PDP in the coming elections.
The Maritime Academy of Nigeria, formerly known and addressed as the Nautical College of Nigeria, was established in 1979 by the Federal Executive Conclusion No.EC.(77) 172.
It was designed as an integrated institution for the education and training of shipboard officers and ratings shore-based management personnel.
We have heard about this change of Maritime academy oron to a degree awarding institution for the past 5years.but nothing has been done,cadets are littered all over the country without a vessel for I.T placement or job..maritime oron deserves better things than just HND..we need vessels,b.sc and facilities to match other maritime universities in the world
