Jigawa State University To Commence Full Operations January 2014
Jigawa State owned university will commence full operations in January 2014 with the admission of 8,500 students as first intake, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Haruna Wakili has said.
Speaking while introducing the new vice- chancellor of the university, Professor Abdullahi Ribadu and other academic staff to Governor Sule Lamido, at Government House, Dutse, Wakili said the university would start with 15 courses and three departments, adding that lecturers were drawn from reputable universities based on merit.
Wakili further explained that the new university would compete with the existing state and federal universities in the country as the administration had made concerted efforts for sustainable growth of the institution.
His words: ‘’Jigawa State Government established the state university to enable its citizens advance their studies without any admission difficulties.”
