Ibadan Polytechnic Gets New Rector, Registrar
The Oyo State Government has appointed Prof. Olatunde Fawole as the rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
It also named Mr. Ayodele Fehintola as the institution’s new registrar.
Fawole, until his appointment, was a professor of Biological Sciences at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.
The state Commissioner of Education, Prof. Solomon Olaniyonu, announced the appointments on Sunday, theNews Agency of Nigeria reports.
Also appointed are Mr. Tiamiyu Adeniyi (Bursar), Hammed Bakare (Librarian) and Oyetoso John (Director of Works).
The commissioner said Governor Abiola Ajimobi approved the appointments as a necessary move towards resolving the crisis at the polytechnic.
He also said that the appointments took immediate effect.
Students of the polytechnic protested last Tuesday against the non-appointment of substantive principal officers of the institution as well as the strike by their lecturers.
