The HPS Graduate Trainee Programme is designed to train and develop trainees to competency levels of operators, maintenance technicians, Project Management and Business Analysis in the Oil & Gas industry using international standards. On completion of the program, successful candidates will have the basic competency and international accredited certification to work in the HPS Oil & Gas industry, locally and internationally.
Trainee Category
The HPS Graduate Trainee Programme 2016 encompasses several fields into which successful applicants will be drafted in the organization at the end of the programme. The trainee categories include:

Job Description
- OPERATOR TRAINEE:
- Trainee will learn to operate equipment such as pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, furnaces and other operations equipment. They will also learn to carry out routine plant inspection, completion of log sheets among many other duties.
- MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN TRAINEE:
- Among many other skills, trainees will learn to perform a variety of duties in the maintenance of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation of equipment. This will include shop and field work, fabricating, assembling and installation of materials.
- PROJECT AND PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT TRAINEE:
- Management Trainee covers the principles and application of project management to the upstream oil and gas business. Participants may choose a case study from a number of real-life exploration, production, facilities, and general management situations, or they may bring the details of one of their own current projects.
- BUSINESS ANALYST TRAINEE:
- Trainee will learn to Plan, manage, and facilitate the requirements gathering activities throughout the requirements process for changes to a business system, including analysis of the interdependence between financial and operational metrics. Use a project management approach to communicate technical and business information to a variety of stakeholders, including technical and business stakeholders.
Requirements for the HPS Graduate Trainee Programme
Applicants must possess a minimum of at least one of the following qualifications:
- Ordinary National Diploma at Upper Credit Level in Petroleum Processing, Petroleum, Mechanical, Production, Chemical Instrumentation, Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering
- Higher National Diploma at Upper Credit Level in Petroleum Processing, Petroleum, Mechanical, Production, Chemical Instrumentation, Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering
- A recognised university honours degree, with at least a Lower Second Class classification in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, planning, transport planning, surveying, project management, building services, sustainable buildings engineering, ecology, environment related disciplines, chemical & process engineering, geography, acoustics, water related disciplines, accounting, business administration, any business related disciplines and energy related disciplines.
