FUNAAB Gets New Chancellor
The Federal Government has appointed the Obong of Calabar, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Ekpo Okon, as the new Chancellor for the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State. Okon, 66, is among the 38 monarchs appointed as chancellors for the nation’s federal universities.
With the appointment, Okon becomes the fourth chancellor of the university. His predecessors were the Emir of Katagum, Bauchi State, Alhaji Kabir Umar; the late Oba of Lagos, Adeyinka Oyekan, and the Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Joseph Edozien accordingly.
Okon, who had his early education at St. Patrick’s Convent and St. Mary’s Schools for his primary education, also attended the West African Peoples Institute.
He is a fellow of the National Association of Technological Engineers.
