FG Approves Three New Polytechnics in Kano, Abia, Delta

The Federal Government on Tuesday, announced the approval of three new federal polytechnics in Kabo, Kano State, Umunnoechi, Abia State, and Orogun in Delta State.

With the establishment of these federal polytechnics, the number of federal polytechnics in the country sums up to 36, all states of the federation now has a federal polytechnic each.

The approval of the new institutions was said to have come few weeks after the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics issued threats of a strike to the Federal Government for failing to revitalise the existing polytechnics in the country.

However, the ministry of education stated that the establishment of the new polytechnics was in accordance with President Muhammadu Buhari’s determination to make tertiary education more accessible, and in line with this, the President approved the establishment of three New Federal Polytechnics in the country.

The new institutions are to commence academic activities in October, 2022.
