EBOLA: Ogun State Postpones Pry/Sec Schools Resumption
Ogun State Government says it has postponed indefinitely the resumption of classes in all its primary and secondary schools.Prior to this announcement, the schools were to resume for the 2014/2015 academic session on September 15, 2014.
The was announced in a statement by the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Segun Odubela, on Thursday. Odubela said the change followed the Federal Ministry of Education’s directive to schools nationwide.
Following the outbreak of Ebola virus disease, the Federal Government had directed primary and secondary schools in the country to put on hold their resumption dates.
Odubela urged parents and guardians to take proper care of their children and wards by monitoring their movement and engaging them in academic activities.
Reacting to the development, some parents and guardians in the state has lauded the decision and as hailed it as a good step to reducing the rate of spread of the disease.
