Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma Abolishes Pass Degrees
Ambrose Alli Universities (AAU), Ekpoma has has announced the scrapping of Pass degree. This is in compliance with the directive of the National Universities Commission (NUC) pursuing the abolishment of pass degrees in Nigerian universities. Read the full details below:
Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma Abolishes Pass Degrees
Accordingly, senate at its regular meeting held on Wednesday, 28th May, 2014 considered the directive of the national universities. Commission (NUC) on the subject-matter and directed as follows:
1) That the award of PASS degrees in Ambrose Alli Universities, Ekpoma is hereby abolished. With the effect from the #2013/2014 academic session(this session).
2) That the grading system and the Grade Point equivalent in line with this directive should be adjusted as follows:
(i) credit unit : Vary according to contact hours assigned to each course per week per semester, and according to load carried by student
(ii) Percentage Scores: 70-100:A-, 60-69:B, 50-59:C, 45-49:D, 0-44:F
Grade Point Average (GPA), Derived by multiplying 1and IV and divided by Total Credit Unit…..
4.50-5.00 First Class,
3.50-4.49 2nd Class Upper,
2.40-3.49 2nd Class Lower,
1.50-2.39 3rd Class
3) That the third class is the least of degrees in the universities. With effect from the NEW INTAKE of the 2013/2014 academic session.
For the avoidance of doubt, the grading system and grade- Point equivalent of old student (i.e 200l-500l) would continue. And end with the system with which they started.
All Dean’s of Faculties are hereby directed to reflect the new grading system in the Faculty Handbooks and other academic information media.
All Dean’s, Academic Directors and Heads of Department are required to be guided by the above directive.
