Application for several 2013 International Student/Teacher Essay Contests are currently on and you can start entering for any of these contests to have a chance to get your voice and opinions heard as well as get the prizes at stake. Interested students or teachers should follow the steps below to enter for the contest.

Commonwealth Short Story Prize Prize Money
Regional winners receive GBP 1,000 and the overall winner receives GBP 5,000. Criteria: For unpublished short fiction between 2,000 and 5,000 words (Commonwealth based authors only).

Prize Money: GBP 250 plus

Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs fifth annual International Essay Contest
ESSAY TOPIC: What does moral leadership mean to you?
CONTEST REQUIREMENTS:
- Style: Op-ed style (not academic, footnoted papers)
- Length: 1,000 to 1,500 words
- Format: Word document, or email. English language entries only.
- Limit: One entry per person.
This competition is open to teachers and students of all nationalities.

Montreal International Poetry Prize Prize Money
CDN $20,000 Criteria: Original, unpublished poems of up to 40 lines which are not currently submitted anywhere else

Reducing Urban Poverty 2013 Essay Competition, $1000 Grand Prize
To encourage a new generation of urban policy makers and promote early career research, USAID, International Housing Coalition (IHC), World Bank, Woodrow Wilson Center’s Comparative Urban Studies Project (CUSP), and the Cities Alliance are co-sponsoring a fourth annual paper competition.
The competition seeks abstracts for a paper competition on urban poverty in the developing world. Winning papers will be published and selected authors will present their work in a policy workshop to be held at the Wilson Center in Washington, D.C. in November 2013. The grand prize winner will also receive $1000.
