JAMB 2020: NIN No Longer A Requirement For Registration
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended the use of the National Identity Number (NIN) as requirement for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration.
The registrar, JAMB, Is-haq Oloyede, who disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja on Saturday, said the use of NIN will take effect from 2021.
CANDIDATES ARE TO ONLY SEND THEIR NAMES TO 55019 TO CREATE PROFILE. NO NEED FOR NIN FOR 2020 REGISTRATION.
“We are not going to use NIN as prerequisite for UTME registration, but this will come into effect in 2020”, the registrar said.
Oloyede said the board came to the “sad” decision because of the short time frame for the intending applicants which according to him are still many, technical issues being faced in the NIN enrolment amongst others.
The decision according to the registrar will enable the board and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) address the challenges faced and also give the intending applicants time frame to get the NIN.
