What is IJMB?

IJMB stands for Interim Joint Matriculation Board. It is a full-time Advanced level programme that runs for about 10-11 months. The starting and ending period depends on the school.
It is designed to prepare students for entry into the second year of various degree programmes of participating schools in Nigeria. This means that you not only stand to gain admission into the school at which you took the IJMB programme. You can also get admission into other schools that run IJMB programme.
The good part as you might be expecting is that it do not need JAMB for admission. You can gain admission without JAMB and even into 200 level (second year).
How to get Admission with IJMB (How it Works)
The programme will usually run for two semesters and the students are assessed through internally conducted Continuous Assessment Tests (CAT) during the semesters and the main external examination at the end of the second semester by February.
Depending on their choice of discipline, each student is expected to take 3 basic combinations of subjects. Each school will provide you with the list of courses available and the subject combinations.
Based on your performance, they (schools) will offer or deny you admission after completion of the programme.

What is JUPEB?
ABOUT JUPEB
JUPEB stands for Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board. Just like IJMB, the JUPEB programme avails you the opportunity of being eligible for consideration for Direct Entry admission into the 200 level of University programmes. It is usually a 1-month programme.
Furthermore, with JUPEB you can get admission into degree programmes of schools in Nigeria. Also, for some schools, you can get admission into foreign institutions. For example, UNILAG collaborations include University of Bedfordshire, University of Central Lancashire, University of the West of England, De Montfort University, Leicester, University of Birmingham, (UK) and Soochow University, China.
How to get Admission with JUPEB (How it Works)
In order to qualify for admission, you need to have the O’level results prerequisite. For example, most schools require a minimum of FIVE credits. Consequently, you need English Language and Mathematics and three relevant subjects in one sitting. It can be at the SSCE/WASSC, GCE/O/L, NECO.
