FG To Scrap Entrance Examination Into Unity Schools
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu said,”The second test is an unnecessary additional financial burden on parents/guardians,”.
He continued saying “The era of multiple examinations attracting prohibitive fees cannot be accommodated by the Buhari administration, especially against the backdrop of government’s determination to increase access to education as a platform for breaking the cycle of poverty,” the statement read.
The minister then encouraged that the National Examination Council, NECO should fortify its examination dealings to bring out the best admission into unity schools instead of numerous and multiple examinations just for pupils to enter secondary schools.
The former Minister of Education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili praised the decision and also emphasized on the need to renovate the education system in other to avoid a breakdown of the education sector.
God bless Baba Adamu. You have actually been sent to rescue the poor masses and the falling education standard in Nigeria. Please, other things that need be done is to checkmate the Principals of these Unity schools in their quest for sessional increament in school fees and other charges, dismissing students to go home and spend two three weeks and come back again to write exams in between their WASC/NECO examination when they have paid fees completely and the ancient method of accumulating punishment for final year students. Thus making outgone student to serve punishment when they come to collect their result.
