Over 8000 candidates sat for the post UTME examinations out of which about 2600 candidates were accepted by the Umaru Musa Yaradua University and were matriculating

Vice Chancellors’ Address to the 10th Matriculating Students, Umaru Musa Yaradua University, Katsina, 14 April 2016, and He had all these to say; ”Good morning Umaru Musa Yaradua University (UMYU) matriculating students of 2016. Welcome to your University and to the beginning of another experience. Congratulations!

This morning you are participating in a matriculation ceremony one of several important University traditions. First, most of you have dressed in UMYU academic regalia and marched with Dean of Students Affairs. Also, my colleagues and I have dressed in our finest academic regalia to welcome you into UMYU academic community.

After this ceremony, and throughout your years at UMYU, you will branch off according to your academic interests and you will self-identify with a Faculty or Department and Programme. You will also compose your circle of friends and roommates. These choices will shape your university experience, and you, for years.

It is our hope that you will emerge from this University with the fundamental education and skills to compete in and eventually lead in whatever life endevour you chose or find yourself.

Over 8000 candidates sat for the post UTME examinations out of which about 2600 were admitted and registered and you happen to be one of them. This is a unique opportunity to you individually and collectively and you must put in the uttermost best to utilize it.

I hope that through your studies and your participation in all other activities in UMYU, you will find for yourselves the difference between learning and imagination. Through your studies and your involvement, you should imagine new ideas that will shape your dreams and aspirations. Without the ability to imagine, without taking the time to plan, your education will be less than it ought to be. Finding the time and opening your mind to imagination is your choice. I hope you will choose to pursue your dreams to the fullest during your stay here and throughout your life. All of us here are looking forward to helping you succeed.”
