Today, we share the list of tuition-free schools in Norway i.e. Universities, Colleges and Institutes in Norway where you can study for FREE – without paying school fees. As we have promised to always share with you, valuable information in Education, Admission and Scholarships, we are fulfilling it.

This information is meant for students who wish to study abroad, Norway to be specific. This composition has information about Universities in Norway with free tuition for international students and how to apply to schools for admission.

Tuition in these schools are free for international students, especially from developing countries and you only have to take care of your living expenses. Please note that many of these schools don’t have Bachelor Programmes (B.A. and B.Sc.) in English language. Therefore, if you don’t understand Norwegian, you may only be able to apply for Postgraduate programmes. A lot Master’s programmes are taught in English.

How To Apply For Admission Into Tuition-Free Schools in Norway – 2020

Unlike when applying for admission into Universities in Germany, all application are sent directly to the specific institution. You can see individual schools’ website listed above and find their application page. Many German Universities use Uni-Assist as screening agent for admission. This is not the case in Norway and it saves you a lot of stress and money.

Method of application will vary from to school to school but the procedure is largely the same. Institutions will however differ a bit in their admission requirements. You only need to make sure you read the requirements for specific schools before applying. When in doubt, there is usually at least one person listed on their website that you can contact for assistance.

Free Undergraduate Studies in Norway

The Norwegian Universities and Colleges Admission Service (NUCAS) coordinates admission into regular undergraduate study programmes at all universities, university colleges, and some private university colleges in Norway. Applicants with a foreign secondary education, holding a permanent or renewable residence permit for Norway, must apply for admission through NUCAS. Online application deadline is 1st March (could be earlier for some schools) for foreign applicants, and all requirements must be met by 1st July.

Free Postgraduate Study in Norway (Masters and Ph.D.)

As said earlier, not all courses are taught in English. If you don’t understand Norwegian, then you have to search for courses taught strictly in English Language. Courses for which the language of instruction is English can be found at http://www.studyinnorway.no/. For Ph.D. programmes in English you will have to check with each institution individually. You may be asked (or not) to authenticate your your certificates and documents before sending them to the schools you are applying to. If that is the case, then click the link above to find details of how to do that one.

Norwegian universities, state university colleges and art academies, as a rule, do not charge tuition fees for international students. As said earlier, you, however, have to take care of your living expenses which can quite be expensive in Norway. This is a requirement for admission and applicants who are not able to provide proof of finances for a living will not be considered for admission, regardless of other qualifications.

Norwegian Students Visa / Resident Permit Processing

After you have been offered admission, you will have to take your admission letter, letter of recommendation from the school and all your original credentials to the Norwegian Embassy for Visa processing. All students who plan to stay in Norway for more than three months will need a Student Residence Permit.
