University Admits 550 Out Of 8,000 Applicants

The Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, (FUOYE) admitted only 550 of the 8,000 applicants who sought admission into the institution for the 2013/2014 academic session.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Isaac Azuzu, gave the figure on Friday at the 3rd Matriculation ceremony of the institution.

Azuzu said that the figure represented 7.5 per cent of the applicants.

He advised the successful applicants to make the best use of the opportunity by studying hard to prepare themselves for the future.

The vice chancellor charged the fresh students to shun all forms of crime including stealing, cultism and examination malpractice.

“The university has zero tolerance for cultism; anyone caught involved in cultism will be expelled and thereafter prosecuted,’’ Azuzu warned.

The state Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, said at the event that his administration donated N20 million to support the various projects going on in the two campuses of the university.

Fayemi gave the assurance that his administration would continue to assist the university in development projects.

He charged the students to combine academic excellence with good conduct to be able to face the future.

The governor said that university was not only for education but also for character molding.

The two campuses of the university are Oye Ekiti and Ikole-Ekiti. (NAN)
