OSUSTECH Unions Suspend Six-week Old Strike
Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH), Unions have suspended their six-week old strike and are now to resume academic activities as the new Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Ogunduyile resumes office.
The Unions, which include the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) have directed their members to resume work.
The communiqué, joint released by the Unions in which they directed their members to resume duty on Monday reads;
“Sequel to the strike embarked upon by the unions on January 25 to press home our demands, we hereby suspend the strike as staff and students are directed to resume on Monday. “This is because some of our demands were met and to honour the new governor, Rotimi Akeredolu and the new VC, Prof. Ogunduyile” the communiqué stated.
The Acting Registrar, Mr Felix Akinnusi, said that both the students and staff had fully resumed.
He said, “We have resumed fully for the first semester of 2016/2017 academic session with our 100-level students undergoing screening.
“Our old students are also doing their registration.
“Although the strike affected academic activities, we will make up for the lost time as the senate will meet to deliberate on it and new academic calendar.”
