8 UNIMAID Students Die In Auto Crash
Eight students of University of Maiduguri and School of Nursing University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) have died in an auto crash at Lamari village in Sade district, Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
It was gathered that the students were on their way to Abuja for a conference when the incident occurred.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, DSP Haruna Mohammed, said the incident occurred when the vehicle conveying the students skidded off the road into the bush.
He said eight students died on the spot while five others sustained various degrees of injuries. Mohammed added that a team of policemen visited the scene and evacuated the victims to the General Hospital, Darazo, from where those who were injured were referred to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi. He said investigation into the matter has commenced.
