400L RUN Student First Runner-up at APCON /RHA Competition
A 400L Student of the Redeemer’s University (RUN) emerged first -runner up at the just concluded APCON/Roger Hatchuel Academy(RHA) Competition at The award night was held at the Agip Hall, Muson Center.
Redeemer’s University is fast establishing itself as an institution to beat as staff and students continue to shine and win accolades and awards within and outside the country. To some people, the awards and accolades were as a result of the intellectual investment in the staff and students by the university, while some people believed that they were the fulfillment of prophesies which were foretold long ago through His servant, Daddy G.O.
RUN Student Emerges First-Runner up at APCON/RHA Competition
Miss Maryann Okonkwo, a final year student of the Department of Mass Communications who represented the university at this year’s APCON (Advertising Practitioners Council Of Nigeria) / Roger Hatchuel Annual Academy competition for students studying Advertising, Marketing and other related disciplines in Nigerian tertiary institutions emerged as the first runner-up with an all-expense paid trip to participate at the Lynx Festival in Dubai next year. She came behind Chiamaka Obunadike of the University of Lagos, who was the overall winner. Akinyemi Mabayomije Adija from Nigerian Institute of Journalism came third in the keenly contested academy.
Narrating how she won the second place prize, Okonkwo Maryann, said that the event offered a life-changing experience, adding that it was stressful and rigorous because they had to touch several facilities without resting. Speaking further on her experience at the academy, Miss Okonkwo said: ‘‘as I got to the hotel, I just prayed that everything would go well. I believed that I had done my best so I left the rest to God to take control. I didn’t expect much but deep down I did hope I would win, I mean everyone hoped that they would win. The award night was held at the Agip Hall, Muson Center. The category was in the Roger Hatchuel Academy (RHA-2016) was the last to be called. The third place winner was called and her campaign was played on the huge screen in front of everyone.
The award reconfirms the brilliance, dedication and quality that the Department of the university are made off based on the performances of her students in the competition, back to back as one of the foremost Departments of Mass Communications in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
