2016 SAWISE Angus Scholarship for Sub-Saharan Black Female in South Africa

Applications are ongoing for the 2016 SAWISE Angus Scholarship for Sub-Saharan Black Female in South Africa. The Association of South African Women in Science and Engineering (SAWISE) is awarding scholarship for black female from sub-Saharan Africa. Scholarship is awarded only for studies at Honours level (or 4th year equivalent e.g. in engineering) in any field of science and engineering. The value of scholarship is R15 000 p.a. for a period of one year. South African applicants will be given preference. 

Scholarship Value

The value of the SAWISE Angus Scholarship is of worth p.a.: R15 000. The duration of award is one year. The successful applicant should become an active member of SAWISE.

Selection Criteria: South African applicants will be given preference.

Notification: Students will be contacted by SAWISE by 20 December. If you haven’t been contacted by SA WISE by 20 December, you have unfortunately not been successful in your application.

Eligibility:

Each year SAWISE awards the Angus Scholarship and the criteria for eligibility include:

    • A sub-Saharan black female. 
    • Must have achieved 70% or above grade average in her subject of study.
    • Only for studies at Honours level (or 4th year equivalent e.g. in engineering)
    • In any field of science and engineering.

Eligible Countries

The Scholarships is open for any Sub-Saharan black female from the listed countries: Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Congo (Democratic Republic), Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe) are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Application procedure and Deadline

Please complete the online application form , available on website, and email electronic copies of the following documents:

    • Completed application form
    • Curriculum vitae
    • An official academic transcript for all years completed (record)
    • Letter of motivation (~350 words)
    • Certified copy of your ID

The application deadline is 15 November annually.
