2015 Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance Senior Fellowships for International Researchers in India

Applications are ongoing for the 2015 Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance Senior Fellowships for International Researchers in India. Applicants should normally have between seven to fifteen years of post-PhD or equivalent clinical research experience. It is not essential for medical or veterinary degree holders to have a PhD. 

The fellowship is for five years. The total award for a Senior Fellowship typically includes the costs requested by the applicant as well as the set contributions by the India Alliance. The Preliminary application deadline for November 2015 intake is 2 April 2015.

Study Subject(s):

Fellowships are available across the full spectrum of biomedical research – from fundamental molecular and cellular studies through to clinical and public health research. Research projects can be based in the laboratory, the clinic or the field and may involve experimental or theoretical approaches.

Fellowship is available for pursuing research career in an academic institution in India.

Scholarship Value

The fellowship provides:

• Personal Support for the fellow.
• Essential costs of the research programme, including consumables, equipment, collaborative travel, research assistance and technical support if appropriate
• Overheads, a flexible funding allowance and support to attend scientific meetings, in addition to requested essential costs.
• The total award for a Senior Fellowship typically includes the costs requested by the applicant as well as the set contributions by the India Alliance.

Selection Criteria:
Applicants must have demonstrated their ability to lead an independent research project and group. Awards will be conditional upon a satisfactory performance at interview.

Notification:
Your application will be reviewed by the appropriate advisory committee and, if successful, you will be short-listed for interview. Interviews for short-listed candidates will be held in November 2015.
